Bullshit Detector translation: "Considering that statement was pulled directly from my ass just seconds before it was posted, no, I have absolutely no verifiable proof to back it up."
Do you drive your LX or Dakota without coverage? I never suggested he remain a bachelor for the rest of his life. I only recommended he get insurance on something far more important than an automobile. Statistics show approximately 50% of all marriages end up in divorce. That's a sad but true reality. If he gets a prenup, he'll never regret it. If he doesn't, and he ends up in some courthouse with his entire life in the hands of a judge, he'll rue the day he didn't heed my advice.
Well said. Sad, but well said.
Good morning, Mr. Sunshine. Excuse me while I go draw a warm bath and slit my wrists. See I got married last Octaber without a prenuptual agreement. Damn, if I had only heard your advice sooner. :(

Equating the concepts of insuring the vehicles you drive with marrying someone speaks volumes about you. Obviously, you don't grasp the concept of marriage.
Anyone who is so worried about the possibility of getting screwed over after the divorce should _never_ consider marriage in the first place.

What is marriage without trust? What does a prenup say about the level of trust? What would be the point of a relationship which lacks basic trust and already expects to fail (which is why the prenup is used)? Like it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. If I was Bill gates, maybe. But for the average person, it's not likely someone married you for your money.

Your reading comprehension skills need a brush up. I in no way "equated" the two, in fact, I specifically referred to the institution of marriage as "something far more important than an automobile." Please re-read the post and you'll see I'm right.
Considering the divorce rate in America is approximately 50%, what sane man would not consider a prenup? Odd you seem so dead set against it. Like I said... what would it hurt to get one? Clearly, the only one on this thread looking out for Erik's best interests is me.
Yikes... sorry to hear about the one child. Other than that, it seems you've recovered well, which is good. Unfortunately, cases like yours are almost textbook, regardless of what bullshit purveyor "Michael Johnson, PE" says.
Well said. If a mate truly loves the other party, then signing a prenup shouldn't even be an issue. I never felt more loved than I did the day my wife signed ours. With a simple stroke of the pen, she told me, "I love you for who you are, not for what you have." Eleven years later, we're closer today than we ever have been.
I've never heard a guy say, "Oh damn, I wish I'd never got that damn prenup! I RUINED my marriage!"
Do you have a prenuptial agreement in place bewtween you and your wife?
More "tyipical" divorce stats from "Michael Johnson, PE" that stand diametrically opposed to reality.
Is slinging s*it on usenet a hobby or an occupation for you?

LOL! Simply put, you're full of crap.
One who trusts and loves his future wife. Those concepts are lost on you.
A prenup undermines the core values and basis for marriage, two of which would be love and trust. I don't expect you to understand.
In your warped way, perhaps you think so. Actually, advice like yours is poisonous.
Ever think she might be staying with you because she won't get near what she deserves if she leaves? Hmmm... one can wonder.
I wonder how many guys have said "Asking her to sign that prenup was the beginning of the end of our marriage"?
Carl Childers wrote in news:cchilders- snipped-for-privacy@news1.east.earthlink.net:
If two people love each other enough to honestly want to get married, then the concept of a prenup would never enter their heads.
The thing that everybody seems to have forgotten is that marriage is a lifelong commitment. Go look up the definition of the words "lifelong" and "commitment". Remember the phrases "for better or worse", "richer or poorer", and "till death do us part"? They actually mean something.
Either you pulled the wool over her eyes or she's an idiot. Or maybe both.
So what's _your_ reason to insist on a prenup? Why do _you_ consider it important? Worried about something?
I'll never understand people that agree to get married and they're thinking of splitting from each other in the back of their heads. These people are the reason why the divorce rate is so high.
