Well, Mr. SAT, if an engine fuel runs rich, then the smoke will be sooty black from the unburned hydrocarbons. This condition is not seen as much with EFI cars vs. carburatated models, but it can still happen.

Blue smoke from the tailpipe = burning oil White smoke from the tailpipe = radiator fluid getting into the combustion chamber Black smoke = unburned hydrocarbons (rich fuel to air ratio condition)
