I have a 96 Mustang GT. Is there a way I can program a new remote or do I have to go to the dealer to get it done? Thanks, Rick.

If it's a factory system, just turn the key on off on off on off (5 times, youll hear the locks cycle)... then just press a button on the new remote, and you'll again hear the locks cycle to acknowldedge your remote. Then turn the key off, you're done!
Turn ignition to run or acc. momentarily jump pins in programming connector located in LR qtr panel area. all doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 possible). Turn ignition to off. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
