Shoulda waited?

When I bought my 02 GT last November, I asked the dealer about the availability of the Mach1. He said "No chance, there is a loooong line for those cars".

I looked at the Cobra, and asked if they could knock off the dealer markup which was about 5k. Nope, sorry about that they said.

So I bought the GT. No complaints mind you.

Today I was at the muffler shop getting a Bassani exhaust system installed, and picked up the paper. There was my good old Ford dealer with a full page ad.

It said 2003 Mach 1 - $27,000 13 available

2003 cobra - $35,000 10 available

Aw well, I guess time heals all.

Let me tell you, that Mach is a much more fun ride than the GT too! Since I've been working @ a local Ford dealer PT, they let me take a different Mustang to my club events on weekends. I took a GT 1 weekend. Then took a Mach the next. There was just no comparison. The Mach picked up & went, & even I was impressed. After driving all of them, 03 Cobra (& even the 10th Anniv model), GT, V6, & Mach; I'd choose the Mach as my favorite for fun driving. The only thing that would stop me from buying one is I want a VERT! ;-) Now they are making the Machs through 2004 to boot. We've had an Azure Blue Mach for months. Now we have a yellow one. Nobody is picking them up though, don't know why. GT's have been selling great, but we have 3 2003 Cobra's, 6 (yes 6) 10th Anniversary Cobra's & the 2 Mach's that are just sitting there looking pretty.

I did! My local dealer had six Cobras, four of them were 10th Anniversary editions and two Mach's.

Heh. The local ford dealership around here doesn't have ANY Mach 1's... ANY Cobras.. has a couple GT's. I'm actually glad. Otherwise we'd have some really rich freaking parents buying their kids Cobras & Mach 1's.. *sigh* that irritates me so bad. There are only a COUPLE GT's that cruise around in my city.. and there are only 2 Cobras that you even see once a week driving around.. and when they're cruising the streets NOBODY messes with 'em =). I love it. I can't wait to have my 98 Black Mustang Cobra... gahhh lol. My 98 GT is pissing me off =(.

Gotta go to an SVT dealership to get the good stuff. ;-)

So why are we drooling over a black '98 Cobra? They should be available... online somewhere. Might have to wait a while. I paid $17k for a Rio Red '97 Cobra with 24k on it last year. Expect to be in that ballpark.

Isn't it available in other colors? Our local dealer has a white Mustang out front that has a shaker hood and Mach I graphics.
