Tach Problems

I just received and installed a white face gauge cluster into my 92, but there's a small problem. Most of the time, the tach doesn't work, but every now and then, the tach will come on and work for a little bit. I took the dash back apart, and there aren't any loose connections, but there's still the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
