Ehhh, I know this is somewhat of a senseless question, but I always enjoyhearing opinions anyway. My new car has 1,000 miles on it. I have not yetpressed the pedal to the floor, nor have I taken the engine up past 3,500rpm. I am anxious to eventually open the throttle wide, bring it up to5,500 rpm or so, and see what this little GT can really do. Just wonderingWHEN I should do this. Perhaps now that the engine has 1,000 miles on itand has a crankcase full of fresh oil, it is safe to go WOT. Or perhaps Ishould give the engine another 1,000 or 2,000 miles of typical drivingbefore really getting on it. Of course if you talk to 10 different people,you'll get 10 different opinions on this subject... my guess is that mostpeople will say "just floor the damn thing and have fun"... and this isprobably good advise... I'd think that the engine should be pretty well"broken in" at this point... but I wonder if any good mechanics out theremight feel that 1,000 miles is still a little early to put extreme stress ona new engine, rings, bearings, etc. Thanks.

My feeling is better safe then sorry so I hold off till 5000 miles onmy personal vehicles. GT's are for driving, the 4.6 likes to be reved. At 1000 miles it is time for you to get a new shifter and if you really want to enjoy the car you need 4.1's.
