1990 300zx electrical problem

I put a new battery in after letting the car sit for 8 months. Now the car will not turn over and when the new battery is hooked up the lights come on, the windshield wipers run, and I can not turn either one off. Also, the seat goes back when I push the seat button forward and forward when I push it back. Any ideas of where to start? THANKS!

That's really weird. Normally if you hook it up backwards it SPARKS because of the alternator diodes. Are you sure it's installed right? I sure hope you don't have it installed backwards as it could have fried all sorts of electronics!

Check your starter wire connections, they could have corrosion. A varmint could have chewed thru the wires. Hopefully, youinstalled the terminals correctly.

Years ago I had a boat with a car engine in it and the starter hung up the day after another boat came by real fast and to close and swamped my boat with water. The next day the starter would not turn over. I check wires, battery etc..... then I took a hammer and tapped the starter and solenoid lightly several times and the bitch cranked right up.

The plunger inside the solenoid was froze up with moisture. Jack it up and give em a few taps. It worked on a chevy 454 engine, might work on a Z-32.
