New To This-Code Reader?

On those cars the codes are useless, they didn't have their act together at that point and the codes will many times send you on a wild goose chase.

It's a dead Air flow/ Air mass sensor, whatever you choose to call it. A company called Python makes a reman that works pretty good. Check the AIV valve, it's probably leaking exhaust and sooting up the meter ruining it.

Me again. This occurs in all gears at 2.2k-2.3k rpm and runs fine below this. This must be a dead giveaway. I don't think a fuel filter or air filter would have anything to do with this?

Man Steve, I don't know how to thank you for pointing in right direction. This computer stuff scares me. If you need any music software, let me know. My mechanic was not in(I thought maybe he was a no go on computer stuff) but the guy I talked to said they have a reader next door that they use. This is good sign. Dealer said $120 to analize. Anyhow, I'll do a search on the stuff you mentioned.

Well I found the computer box on passenger side(have codes), but are they actually useless? Also how exactly does the electrical connector come off on air flow meter? There's 2 stages of connector, one at body and one behind. I see possible small clips. I don't want to break this thing. Since you guys are so good, one more thing. I have to wait to warm before driving. Even if the engine temp is fine, if I leave and come back to car, I need to warm up(but not 5 or 10 minutes). I was told it's the fast idle control device ect. What exactly might this be.

Found info on Air injection valve in Haynes but not its location. Sounds like this should be replaced.

They said they don't do this in Ca. I've got computer located, just have to figure how to take out and find accurate instructions how to use it. I've got the codes but Haynes is confusing on how to use. Thanks

I now know where mine is. It's passenger side on right wall where feet go. Yes, it has 20 codes. I'm going to check it out tomorrow.
