2000 I30 Tire Pressure

I recently had Toyo Proxes 4 installed and the tire shop left the pressure at 32 PSI on all four wheels. However, the label under the armrest says that it should be 33 PSI for the front and 30 PSI for the rear. So, what's the right pressure to get good gas mileage and even wear? Does the label suggest pressure only for OEM tires?

You should generally follow the placard on the vehicle as minimum pressures (unless going to a considerably different size tire), with pressure listed on sidewall as maximum. Higher pressure than listed for the vehicle may improve gas mileage and handling, but not as smooth. With the belted tires today, uneven wear due to over pressurization is less of an issue than with ancient bias ply tires.

Always check the pressure when cold, because driving just a few miles can bump the pressure up 4 psi. If anything, add a little extra air, and then check it in early morning before driving.

It should be bumped up some when approching winter, because air pressure drops as it gets colder (and more dense). And the valve may stick open due to freezing moisture if you check it in extremely cold weather.
