2001 Pathfinder Ignition Coil Problem

My check engine light came on, along with occasional rough idling, on my

2001 Pathfinder. I brought my vehicle to my dealer to get checked out, and the problem is a failing ignition coil. They say that there is no way to accurately determine which of the 6 are failing. They suggest bringing the vehicle in each time the light comes on, or I have rough idling and if we get lucky the computer may capture the error code to determine which one is faulty. The other option is to replace all 6 at $125 each, plus labour and tax, and unfortunately the warranty expired for this at 3 years. The first option is inconvenient, and the second one is costly. I find it hard to believe that ignition coils are failing on a vehicle that is just under 4 years old, with low mileage (36200 km). The technicians at the dealer have seen this before, on other Pathfinders and Maximas. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem, and how they have dealt with it.
