3.5 L Pathfinder MPG

I have an '01 QX4 with that motor. I get 14.5 mpg all day long in the city. I never get more than 20mpg on the highway, but more like 19mpg is realistic on the interstate; I usually drive 7 or 8 mph over the speed limit.

When towing my 20' inboard boat, I get about 12.5mpg on the highway. When towing my enclosed 7' x 12' motorcycle trailer, it gets about 11mpg on the highway.

I've made no modifications to the motor. Since I am now out of warrantee, I may locate and install an improved air box. We'll see.

Sounds about right. I bought a use 01 Pathfinder SE last spring and it runs 19-20 mpg highway and around 17 for mixed suburban driving in warmer weather. I have an '02 LE 4x2. It is just now coming up on 40,000 miles. The overall average mileage since new is 17.7 mpg. It gets 17 in combination driving - a couple of miles on the expressway, remainder on 40 mph roads with stop lights every mile. On the highway, usually 18.5 - 19 mpg running at the "effective Texas speed limit" of whatever the sign says plus 9.9 mph which translates into 70 in built up areas and 80 otherwise.
