My '97 Pathfinder has a scary wobble problem that no one seems able to remedy - we've done struts, sway bars, some other things - and I see from the archives that Jim chalks the problem up to Rear Locator Bushings and allows as how they're a PIA to deal with.
I am a mechanical idiot, clinically speaking. Can someone explain these deals a bit more, or point me somewhere where I, in turn, can direct a mechanic?

If you look under the rear end you'll see bars connecting the rear axle to the frame. Those are the locater bars. They have bushings in the ends that fail. You can either replace the entire bar with the bushings ($$$) or replace the bushings in the old bar (PITA).

Thanks very much, Jim. Now tell me this, if you have an opinion... why is my center console area - the e-brake neighborhood - always very warm to the touch? It matter not whether heat is on, AC is on, or nothing's on, nor whether it's hot or cold outside. Is that normal?
