Factory recommended services

OK here is a real dumb question and I am even embarassed to ask.

My wife has a 2002 Nissan Altima and over the years we received post cards from Nissan a few times to have the car taken to any dealer and perform some specific services or part replacement (recall parts). I gave it to my wife and she handles it.

I was talking to her the other day and just realized she "handled" it by tossing them into the trash can! She thought those were just "ads"!!!

Now, I don't exactly remember what these entails but I remember getting about three of those cards. Is there a way to check online what factory recall service or parts were issued for a specific vehicle model?

Also, assume that we get find this information, can you still have them remedied after so long? When the vehicle warranty is completely expired?

I hope none of them is extremely critical safety related items. Why she would toss them away I don't understand. WOMEN!!!

Your local dealer will be able to pull all recalls on the vehicle, by your VIN number. I would recommend you contact them immediately, and make an appointment to get those issues handled. Also, though your wife should have been more thorough in her understanding of the situation, it should have been your responsibility to ensure her understanding the importance of those notices. Share the blame, my friend, after you have had those issues resolved.

If you live in North America to maintain your base warranty and powertrain warranty with Nissan, all that is required is a service record that shows you have changed the oil and filter every 3 months (or there about) /5- 6000 miles. All the other service recommendations are just that, recommendations. If the car is out of warranty why sweat it. If there have been recalls issued by Nissan, any Nissan dealer has to do those recalls, regardless of the service history of the car.

If you live in the UK who knows what the service requirements are.
