How to Remove ThermoValve 96 Sentra ?

Hi,

I'll be surprised to get an answer since there is so little written on usenet about the "thermovalve". But I can hope.

I have a coolant leak from the O ring in the thermovalve in my 96 Sentra. The ThermoValve pushes out a shaft as the coolant warms up, and slowly turns down the idle by moving a springloaded cam that moves the throttle.

I can see one screw that apparently holds the TV to the throttle body, but there must be more involved than just that screw.

Looks like I'll have to remove the air intake tube, and whatever other hoses I can, to get some room.

What else do I need to do ? Just trying to get some info ahead of time to minimize trhe chances of messing something up when I actually replace the O ring.

Thanks

U should be able to dissassemble that and remove the plunger. might want to check with dealer for a o-ring. They may want to sell you the entire assy. U may have to go to home depot to get suitable o-ring replacement.

Thanks. I am just wondering HOW to remove the plunger without hosing anything up. The dealer has an O ring replacement for $1.xx.

Hopefully a careful look at the thermo valve setup will reveal what has to be done.

Dealer had the o-ring, thats great. Might take a digital pic of assembly prior to tear down and print out for ref. Might want to lay out a sheet to catch the hardware. Don't want to fish out a nut from the nooks of the engine. Also have a retractable magnetic tool to hold/catch parts when you tear down. Good luck
