I am looking at a newer Pathfinder 2002, well new to me, how are they on gas consumption?

I've had a 2002 QX4 4x4 a little over a year and average 18.55 mpg. Driving is mostly to work in the city with some occassional interstate and backroads trips.

Probably the most frequent complaint I hear on the 3.5L engine is the gas mileage. It has great power but I never get over 20mpg on my '01. I usually run 17-19 mpg.
thats about right,
20mpg if you drive at constatn 65 mph and dont accelerate hard, keep it steady. and this is all highway. with minor street driving
Is it a 4x4 or 4x2? I gets 17mpg around town and 19-20 on the highway on my '02 LE 4x2. If you are looking at a 4x4, expect 2-3 mph worse. Per the owner's manual, they require regular gas, but premium is recommended for "increased performance".
