I have a 1994 1.4LX Nissan Sunny. When starting it in wet or damp conditions I have to crank it for quite a period (>30 secs) to get it to start. Sometimes more than once. When it is dry, the engine starts after a second of cranking (as all good Nissans should).
I checked the HT leads, distributor cap and even the air filter and they all seem fine, no damage, no water ingress or condensation.
Has anybody got any ideas what else I could check please?

The distributor cap might seem fine but over the years the metal posts erode and the gap becomes greater and therefore requires more voltage to jump the gap, the higher voltage is more likely to jump to ground in damp weather. HT leads can look OK but go high resistance eventually, spark plug gaps get wider, so all in all it all just gets too hard for that spark to jump the plug gap, and the first you notice is in damp weather. Change the lot.
