how much discount on a new altima

I am in the market for a new altima, looking for a four cyl sl package and I would like to know what discount from the dealer I should expect if any or what a fair discount would be. Never dealt with Nissan before. Live in Western PA.

TIA

As someone who is originally from Western Pa, and is a manager at a Nissan store, the first thing you will need to do is hit the right dealer. Unfortunately, around Pittburgh, there is a dearth of Nissan dealers. I am familiar with the 4 most North of the city (South you are really on your own) and would probably tell you to head to Wright's on Route 19 in Wexford. Go in with an invoice number and generally work around that area, plus or minus a few dollars, depending on the market (I work in NJ, where it is generally more competitive, which means slightly below). Price-wise you can do the same at most of those dealers, but Wright's has a MUCH better reputation for after-sales service (I worked at the Ford store up the street when it was Barden-McKain, and have done some consulting work in that very Nissan store, so have a good idea of their philopsophy).

Your basic choices are this: go in reasonable and come out happy, with the car you want. Go in unreasonable, save yourself a couple hundred, and generally have a miserable experience, and then pray that you won't need the salesman's help with anything after the sale.

Let us know how it goes.
