94 Maxima, power antana replacement installation

Make sure the teeth of the cable are pointing the right direction. I think mine were pointed to the front. Did you have someone else to turn on the radio while you fed in the cable?

easy installation. Just remove the broken antana and feed the new ribbed plastic cable down the tube the old one came out of and turn on/off the radio and the motor gear will grab the new cable and bring it into place. Didn't work that way for me. The motor hums and it feels like the antana gear is rotating but it won't grab the new cable. Any suggestions?

When I popped the old one out, I forgot to look and see which way the teeth on the cable were pointing. So it's just a trial and error solution. It will work. And it is much easier with 2 people.

If the previous antenna gear broke, you'll have to remove the entire antenna mechanism from the trunk to remove the broken piece that is not allowing the new one to engage the spool. Usually when an antenna doesn't go all the way up or down, there is a broken piece in the take-up spool. Once you get the antenna mechanism out of the trunk, you have to open up the spool cover plate and remove the broken piece. Put it all back together and it should accept the new mast gear when you power-down the radio. Done this to both my Maxima's- takes about 2 hours max.

when iam driving on the freeway at 65+ mph the temp idle start to down to cool but doesn't stay in the middle while driving,
