96 Maxima Speedometer Head

Does anyone have a schematic of the inside wiring of the speedometer head? If not, does anyone know if it can be tested from the outside by checking resistance between connector contacts? Thanks much for any assistance.

we don't even have it at the dealership in the service manuals.

So you chances are slim to nine.

My guess is that you have one of two problems

  1. the odometer is inop
  2. the check engine light is on and you have a P0500 code.

either way the head needs to be replaced ASAP.

if not the value of the car decreases very quickly, it falls into a category of what is called in the industry as a TMU (true mileage unknown) vehicle.

once that happens the thing becomes worthless to a dealership as a trade or other car lots
