96Se water leak

I have a 96 SE bought last Nov and notice a damp spot under the drivers side floor matt not sure how long it has been leaking or leaking at all we've had alot of rain lately and haven't notice any damp smell has anyone else have this problem or know what to check.Thanks.Phil

I think there is a drip pan under the glove box that collects condensation. Take it out (with a pan on the carpet b/c you'll spill it), and clear the clogged drain. Happens on a lot of cars.

You want to get this checked out asap.

Chances are the evaporator drain is plugged up and water is overflowing out of the evaporator case on to the floor, very common if you have a lot of trees you park under

You need to be mindful of this because if water happens to drip on you ECU for a period of time you can let the smoke out of the ECU.

if you are not familiar with the theory of smoke here it is .

Everything has "smoke" built in to it, the trick is to keep the "smoke" in the particular component.

If you happen to let the "smoke" out of something it typically tends not to not work anymore. So then you have a choice, buy a new component that has fresh smoke in it from the factory(Big $$$) or remove your component and send it back to the manufacturer and have them reinstall the smoke for you.(kinda big $$$)
