I feel this is premature for a 98...I haven't seen any 97/98/99 Maximas in Ottawa with the same corrosion.....or are they already repairing it.
Would Nissan Help?

Air Salinity/Acidity, car storage conditions, wash/waxing, road conditions(loose gravel, salt) dictate how soon the chassis starts to rust. After initial start, rust may be 'impossible' to fight as/if zinc layer has already been depleted. Oil is the only answer that wants to seep into inaccessible cavities and push moist out. That is why ultralight aircraft use oil in the support beam tubings: no secret inside rust allowed. The problem applying oil is, paint on oil isnt going to stay too long...
Typical defense is to scrape/clean and paint various coatings. That is good on parts /surfaces seen, the problem 'is always' on this planet in the unseen world...
After getting rust 'booted', well ventilated garage and lots wash/waxing will keep u max shiny.

No help from Nissan at all.
You basically line in a sea of salt (road salt) for 6 or more months out of the year, nothing is going to last in that environment
What does the warranty cover and for how long?. The have very detailed description of the coverages in the warranty booklet for your vehicle.
