i picked up a 98 Maxima SE and the car is pulling to the left - thought it may need alignment - did not help had brakes checked out - everything is fine -
mechanics are not sure why.
car has not been hit, the front has original Nissan vin stickers on the fenders and hood.
It is not normal for a car pulling to the left. A little pull to the right is normal due to most roads are crowned. You should have your chassis checked by professional. Because body shops these days can hide previous accidents so well, which give plenty of chances for some guileful sellers to hide the problem of the car, unless you check it very carefully.
Doesn't mean it hasn't torpedoed into any deep pot holes.
Most likely its a bad tire if the alignment checks out. Try swapping the front tires side to side and see if the pull follows the tire (to the right). If so, swap them with the rears and the problem will go away until the next rotation.
If not the tire, then you need to look into the other suspension components for something bent, loose, or otherwise out of spec. The upper strut mounts tend to come apart on these. If you are hearing more rattles & clanks than usual when traversing bumpy roads, I would start looking there.
