My 99 GLE doesn't seem to have a trunk light. A strange omission for such a luxurious ride. I looked around with a flashlight, but didn't find. ???? Thanx.

My 96 GLE does - just look right under the top edge of the opening...

Er... do you mean on the body of the car, or on the trunk lid itself?
I've looked again but can't seem to find; is it recessed? I looked in the manual and it just says "light goes on when trunk is opened". Doesn't even have a diagram as with the inside lights. Went on-line with keywords "trunk light" but no links.
A little frustrating
It's under the package tray (under the shelf under the window).
