Oh no, not another synthetic oil thread....
I have been using AmsOil since 1972 and love it.Change oil once a year or 25000 miles which ever comes first. Filter every 6mo or 12500 miles. Have put over 100,000 miles on about three cars. I am also a dealer for them "C M" wrote in message news: snipped-for-privacy@corp.supernews.com... Does anyone have any advice on using synthetic oil rather than the regular 10w30?
Go ahead.
I just bought Mobil 1 in 5qt containers for $19 at Walmart.

Oh no, not another Amsoil thread.
Saw Mobil 1 at Target the other day, 3.69 a quart. Didn't even look like a sale.

Yes, don't waste your time. Unles you plan on setting some million-mile record on your car, it's not worth it. I've put between
250k and 320k on each of the last five cars I've owned, all using regular dino oil and following the manufacturer's regular schedule (i.e. not the 3k that everyone thinks is ideal) and I've never had to open an engine on any of my cars. Ever.Oh, I should also point out that three of them were turbocharged engines, and I never had a turbo failure of any kind. I also drive pretty darn hard.
Oil and engines are good enough now that it's just not needed any more.
Peace.
