205 diesel brake compatibility

Hi there, does anyone know if I can fit 306 S16 disks and callipers to my 205 Dturbo? I have looked on the electronic parts catalouge and not found any extra part between the non moving part of the caliper(yoke) and the wheel hub on either car. I know to fit 306 GTi6 calipers and discs to a 205 you need an interface plate made by griffiths engineering. The 306 GTi disks are thicker and larger diameter than the 306 2.0 S16 brakes, which are the same thickness as to 205 GTi disks although they are 266mm as opposed to 247mm in diameter. Has anyone got any experience of this? Also has anyone ever fitted an intercooler to a 205 Dturbo? If so how big was it and where did it fit? Regards sam samuel snipped-for-privacy@hotmail.com

was it and where did it fit?

Not sure about the brakes, but a slightly cheaper option may be 309/205 GTi discs calipers. This is what I did to mine and it worked a treat and bolted straight on. All for £15.

As for the intercooler, yes they do fit. Until yesterday I had a 205 Dturbo which I planned to put an intercooler on. I did loads of research into it. But my plans changed and I needed some money so I had to sell the 205. The basic idea is that you get an intercooler and manifold from a BX/405 TD and then mount it in the same place (on top of the engine). You also need a 205 auto bonnet which is raised in the middle to accomodate this, plus a few other little bits. If you are serious about fitting one then let me know as I know exactly what you need to do, and I have a few of the bits for the conversion (including a hard-to-come-by new original Peugeot auto bonnet).

Hope that helps

Carl

Cheers Carl, Reason I ask about the S16 brakes is because i have already bought the calipers for £30 am hoping to fit them in a couple of weeks. I may well be interseted in your collection of bits, do you have the 405 inlet manifold? Where are you based? I am in leicester.

thanks Sam

Fair enough. Good luck with getting them to fit. You'll have to let us know how you get on.

I have the 405 manifold and intercooler, but none of the mounts or the turbo-i/c pipe. I'm in Southampton

Hi,

Strange, but I've no idea how it fits... A good option starting from a DTurbo would be fitting 1.9GTi discs (DTurbo discs already are vented, and the same as 1.6GTI).

Dturbo discs aren't vented. Well the 2 I've had (both 1991 cars) haven't been!

Hi Carl,

Yeah, seems to be the case (neither has my brother's '91 DTurbo). However (and that's where I'm in doubt) both Pug spare parts CD-ROM and RTA (french equivalent to the Hayne's) reports there are only vented discs. I have to add that when my brother bought his car it was slightly modded (with a dubtious taste IMO) and I doubted about the discs.

I've read differing reports too. Seems Peugeot were a bit random with some of the parts when they were built. It definately needs the 1.6 GTi brake setup as standard.

Hi,

True. But I couldn't take my brother's car in reference (and haven't seen other DTurbos with wheels off) because I was in doubt about former owner servicing.

Agree (and my so does my brother). Using the Pug spares CD-ROM (disc of lies ?) to get specs summary, with car type 20CA82 (LHD 205TD), there are only vented discs for front brakes. Took from the parts CD :

4246 A5

KIT DISQUES AV DIAM 247 EP10

- SAUF DISQUES VENTILES

front discs, exc. vented discs (EP=épaisseur, thickness) ;

4246 A6

DIAM 247 EP 20,4

- DISQUES VENTILES, SAUF INJECTION, XU9JA

OU GENTRY

(vented discs, exc. injection, XU9JA (1.9GTi) or Gentry ;

4246 A7

DIAM 247 - EP 20,4

- DISQUES VENTILES, DIESEL, TURBO :

ANTI-BLOCAGE ROUE

OU SAUF ANTI-BLOCAGE ROUE

DEBUT 01/06/1993

(vented discs, D, TD, ABS or w/o ABS, starts June, 01 1993). All these are for Bendix discs. Girling are explicitly for 1.9 GTi's, other discs (Teves) are also 247mm /

20.4 but not mentionned if vented. Interresting, isn't it ?
