307 ABS light

Sorry if this has been covered before, but only discovered this NG today.

The ABS light is on.

My local garage (not a Peugeot dealer) had the ABS interrogated to be told that it was a rear wheel sensor problem, They drove for 5 miles after replacing sensor and the alarm light returned. The computer diagnostics still insist that it is a sensor fault.

Are there known problems with the 307 ABS unit, such as faulty wiring looms which would give a chronic ABS alarm?

This is a most annoying syndrome because if one is a good driver, then a reason for the ABS to trigger might only happen once in 5 years, so a fault in a rarely-used luxury adornment makes the ABS a waste of time and money (Local garage has had the car for over a week now)

Maybe the sensor on the other rear wheel needs replacing too. That's what happened with my 53 plate 307.

Both have been replaced and the diagnostic tool insists that it is the driver's side rear sensor.

Maybe you should consider using your own inbuilt diagnostic tool? :-) If the sensor has been replaced correctly (and not damaged by your non-pug garage) then it must be the connectors, wiring or controller at fault. Very few auto connectors are properly designed for conducting small signals from relatively high impedance sensors. Suspect these first.
