Dash showing BRAKING SYSTEM FAULT and STOP also speedo not working, but it drives OK otherwise. Took car to decent local garage, but they were unable to communicate with the ABS ECU and advised me to take it to a Renault main dealer. (No charge)
Main dealer charged £48 to find that they also could not communicate with the ABS ECU and would need to do further diagnostic wiring checks for another £96. They concluded that the ABS ECU was faulty and needed replacing at a cost of £1027.38. I declined!
Now I can source a used ECU, but understand that it would need coding to my car. Would this mean more main dealer extortion?
