405 cylinder head gasket

1994 peugeot has no compression , garage have suggested scrapping the car to me but they will keep the car for the apprentice to practise on

should i bite the bullet and get the work done or is it not worth it ?

if the car didnt overheat and blow the head gasket then i would change it and do the cam belt at the same time ..... if you have any idea about engines you'll know if the engine has overheated the head may be warped so if it is repaired make sure the garage have the head checked and skimed if needed ..... also the garage would say scrap the car it only takes a few hours and 30 quids worth of bits and they have a 405 to sell ........at the end of the day if its a nice car and you like it get it done if its showing its age and your feeling a bit suspect about the next mot get rid ........hope this has been of some help ....shane

thanks for reply - garage advised that cam belt gone and not worth repairing car so it has been scrapped - best car i have driven in a long tme too :o((
