Charging spare battery

Any thoughts re.charging my 12v golf trolley battery from the cigar socket.just for whilst driving home,it will not stay on parked flattenning my battery. As I have two towing sockets I intend later to run a live feed from the Fridge wire and another to ground this will only charge whilst moving. I intend to put a 2A fuse in line with the cigar lighter feed after all if it will charge a coolbox it should charge a battery. I also posted this on the caravan site, just double checking. Thanks

Harry,

Have you tried reading what you wrote and then imagined what others might be able to make of your posting.

You clearly know what you are try to ask but I'm buggered if I do.

Set out a clear question and we might be able to help.

Providing that you only connect the spare battery while the engine is running you will have no problem. If you leave it on when the engine is stopped it will almost certainly discharge the car battery. You might need a little more than a 2 amp fuse, if the spare battery is discharged you could see quite a high current flowing for a short time, up to 10 amps easily.

Whilst I'm with Bob as regards the intelligebility of the whole I reckon most coolboxes will take more than 2 amps. After all thats only

24W of cooling at 100% efficiency. And a flat battery as Brian said will probably take much more than that at first.

probably churned it out too quick whilst still on line.Sorry

1.Can you charge a golf trolley battery from a cigar lighter?I now know you can. 2.Running a live feed from a towbar socket from the 12v caravan fridge is normal proceedure when fitting towing sockets, they didn't do it in mine so I was asking advice.Others have given it,thanks anyway.

as noted by my collegues above it depends on the charge rate of the battery in question really easier option for you would be to purchase a cigar lighter charger adaptor for your trolley if possible if not them simply use the fridge feed off your white socket and see if its ok depends really on whether you have a split charge relay fitted
