i have 95 405 glx diesel and have a problem with the ignition cylinder i can start the car ok bt the spring has broken it can turn the key freely whilst it is running i can manage to drive ok if i manage to return the key to its correct position manually the key fob has a remote for central locking so i am concerened that it may be a major job to repair new keys etc...any advise please

Sorry you will have to replace the whole igniton cyl.i had to do one on a astra it only took 10 mins but it took hime longer to get the part. so take care with it and dont remove it untill you have got it all. from chris Addlestone Surrey.

should be able to get ignition switch and key from breakers.i had a key for every lock when i brought my 405.a trip to the breakers i got ,ignition switch, boot lock, front door locks (2),glovebox lock,2 keys for £10.

i have 2 on mine.one for a tow ball, wired up for and not fitted, and one for a dummy alarm led.proper alarm led is the eye of the lion on the front badge.
