Have you or can you check the earth it might be that.on my 405 i had the same problem, and found out it was the earth at the box, so i had to rewire earth to diff place, now works fine.good luck.

If all the lights go out and the starter will not turn, then you have a bad connection to the battery. Check the battery terminals, and the other end of the earth wire to the gearbox, and body. If you have a voltmeter to hand, check the battery volts when someone tries to start it. If the battery does not drop at all, then this confirms the above. I am assuming that there is nothing wrong with the battery of course. Not impossible for a new one to be faulty.

Ok thanks,I was wondering if there was a relay problem, there used to be a click from behind the glove box?

Have a look behind the glove box.it could be the one for the glow plugs.

It should be a big box with about 4-5 wires to it.

I checked voltage to all relays found 1.5 volts

I think i would remove the starter motor and get it tested.(new ones can play up) or check the wires that go into the starter are tight.as i dont have the car near me i cant look at it which would help.sorry..
