how do i check the auto box fluid level

Depends what year it is as to what gearbox is fitted!!

Early cars with a straight up and down shift lever, conventional type auto box (cable controlled) will have a dipstick at the front of the gearbox.

Later type cars with a wiggly shift lever and the sport and ice modes (electronicly controlled) you will have to go to a dealer, caus as far as I know you can only check this on a machine.

But some clever clogs may know a way around it!!

I think that is the power steering fluid reservoir not the gear box!
