The radio slots are (supposed to be) a standard size, but you may or may not have a standard electrical connector. If not, you'll need an adaptor as well. Dave

your radio will fit unless its one out of a Ford :) New radios come with new metal fitments so you will be ok. The best way to tell if you need an adapter is to plug the ISO connector in the back, set a local radio station to a preset and then turn the ignition off. If the setting is still there when you turn the key to Accessories then you dont need an adapter. 306s are good for stereos, unlike the new

It's not necessary to get a surround as you can fit a new radio in without any modifications.I fitted a cd player in my 306 without the surround part. It can be fitted but not really needed.

Dont get one of those gay plastic surrounds, it makes it look shhhhhockingly bad, plus it makes it sit out proud from the console. I was gonna get one for my kenwood but was told not to by the bloke in halfords!

As regards my nonsense about the wiring, my Astra was odd with the wiring and the simple way to tell is do what i said. Plug it in, set up one channel and see if it retains it. If not then you will have to swap 2 wires round. Most stereos come with a prewired plug, but the one on the back of the old stereo will fit most of them anyway so check before buying!

The aerial connector isn't the standard one in mine, but that might depend on what radio was originally fitted. (Mine was a blaupunkt). Ollie

if i were you paul i would pay £10 to halfords for the surround and then fit your cd player, unless you want you dash to look s*it.
