Which way to go for a new 406 key

I'm in need for a new pug key, the one with a radio remote getting the key is one thing, but how about programming it? pug dealer say's it needs to have the remotecode of the carkey's in order to program it. anyway around that?

cheers

Is it the actual metal part you need, or do you also need the fob part? Our 306 keys can have the metal 'key' part swapped between fobs. If you've lost the whole key then that's one thing, but if you've just damanged/warn/snapped the metal part - it might be easier to just replace that part.

The key has gone dodgy, somethines it works, most of the times it is a hassle to get the car open , but mor importantly turn of the alarm ( cobra class3 alarm) it figures the RF part of the key has a its crystal gone of frequentie so a new one is i think the only option. also i have only one key with remote plip, the other one has none so opening the car with that one sets of the alarm and i have to go through a rather painstaking procedure to turn it of.

I thought it would be as simple as putting the new key in the contact, press the plip for 10 seconds and your done. But Googling around it got me confused if that is also the case in programming the remote.

thnx
