how do you adjust the trani kick down switch above the gas pedal. [400 turbo hydromatic trans]

it was moved before i got the car, when the gas pedal is depressed all the way to the floor, it does not even hit the lever. i cannot find an adjustment for it in the manual I have.

thanks in advance for any help!!!

Thank you Bryan, I know the adjustment you are talking about, I had it on my

83 camaro.

The 69 gto, has a bracket that fits above the gas pedal in the passenger compartment of the car. On the bracket is a switch with a rod. When the gas pedal is depress, the rod is normally pushed back. Someone fiddled with the bracket before I bought the car, so I am not sure how far forward to push the bracket.

I thought I would put the question out before I played with it. Last night I tried pushing the bracket as far forward as possible so that when the gas pedal wall fully depressed it moved the switch to the end of its motion.

I road tested it, it kicked down to a lower gear when i jumped on the gas I did not leave a trail of trani parts on the way home. So for now, I guess I may have fixed it.

Thanks again for your interest and help.

I converted my '71 T/A to a manual trans so I can't look there and my '73 T/A is still in storage ... but I think the kickdown switch is engaged right around

3/4 throttle.

Dennis,

Thanks for the info. I'll use the 3/4 throttle as my starting point.

Very impressive list of cars you have!
