i have a 91 grand prix le and i knwo its old but when you start it up and run it for about 10 minutes or so the idle of the engine starts to flutter, or it starts to jerk and bump. it runs and starts great but when it gets warmed up, the idle will randomly flutter from 700 to 1100 rpm's in a sudden bumping way. its wierd.

Must be a Ghost............

I have the same exact car, and when I drove it away after purchasing it, experienced a lot of idle /speeding/ problems.

However, the car had been sitting in the street for about 6 months before I bought it and had a faulty battery cable so it wasn't fully charged. After a few days it "settled in" and started to perform a lot smoother.

One thing about this car is that it's highly dependent on the electronics, which also seem to be fairly touchy when it comes to power...that is, if your battery isn't charged all the way, the car seems to perform flakey-er.

Also, I switched from regular to high grade Exxon. It has made a total difference in terms of the performance of the car. The manual rates it for regular octane, 87, but it needs 89 and I go for 91.

it had been sitting for a while as a matter of fact, and we havent changed the battery so that is a great idea. i think that will be the first thing im gunna do today, thanks with hopes that it works!
