2000 grand Prix GT transmission slipping

Jun 29, 2007 3 Replies

I recently started to experience some (Automatic) transmission slippages on my 2000 GP GT. After servicing, the tech said the Fluid control Solenoid needed to be replaced. however, after getting that replaced, I still have the issues.

Mostly when the engine is cold, shifting from 1st to 2nd I get slipping, and sometimes between 2nd and 3rd. Also on highway driving, it doesn't seem to shift into 4th gear. I'm approaching the

100k mile mark and I don't want to spend too much more money fixing the problems.

Any techs out there have some insights?

thanks.

Have had good luck with Lucas Trans Oil Treatment. Get it at Pep Boys. Helps with slipping most of the time. Covers the low buck solution you are looking for.

Worked on my 97 Tahoe and a friends Yukon with the code 1870 problem. Lucas used by many of my racing friends, mostly on tow vehicles.
