Was anything done to the engine before this problem occured? Flush, water pump etc. You may have air in the system.

I had a water pump put on in June 06 and this started in late Oct. 06 the temp would go up past the 3/4 line 1 line past 250 degree and sometimes up to the red line or past and drop right away down to the 250 or 3/4 line,so I had a new thermostat put on and it still runs up to 3/4 or to red line and temp light comes on and then drops back to the 3/4 line with new thermostat with the low water light on not long after running,my mechanic said run it with the air on to keep the fans automaticly running and he thinks the sensors need replacing,I do not want to spend much,I have it for sale but do not want to screw anyone,it is my baby and love it,but being in a wheelchair it is too hard to get in and out and put my chair in and out,so I finally got a van,and need the money for the payment handicap vans are crazy priced!! from the $20,000.00 and up,I got mine used for 13,500.00 and with financing it is $19,000.00 until I have more money from the car to refinance it. The car looks like it just came off the floor new.

Maybe the sensors, just doesn't seem likely to me that they both malfunction at the same time. Did he check the actual temp of the engine when it shows overheating? If not check temp then check for air in system and see if the radiator hose is collapsing.

I think he just put the new thermostat in and did not check the temp.,he had about 6 cars behind me,the hose's are not collapsing on either side of the engine,I think he just did a quick thermostat change and did not check anything else, heck I bought the thermostat so all he had to do was replace it, if I could have reached it I would have done it but in a chair it is hard to get to. He has been a good mechanic till the past 5 or so months his phone is ringing all the time and cars are everywhere. I bought a handicap van off ebay and got screwed bad, nothing worked, all the motors for the handicap system were gone and when I brought the van to get it fixed the transmission went,it will not go into any gear and just wines,I spent the last $400 getting it towed back to my house a 120 mile round trip for the rollback and had to get an Attorney to sue them Team Auto Group LLC of Grove City, OH,my attorney said it would be about 3 or so months before anything would come my way they wait to the very last minuite the court gives them,I thought I had my car sold but with the light coming on the guy did not want to take a chance on getting srewed also,I assured him it was the sensors but he said he would see about it.I want $3000 for the car and it is well worth it with only 73525 miles and the GTP package, sun roof, electric seat, remote starter, tires are only 2500 miles on them with 2 full size replacements and the small spare,I had a blanket over the back seat and dash and window reflecter in the front to keep the seats from fadeing or ripping, stering wheel controls for the stereo, cruz electric trunk open from glove box, tilt and the ac works real cold and the heat is hot,it runs real good!! just the low water light and the temp gauge stays at

3/4 instead of 250. I'm at a lose to what is wrong except the sensors.
