97 Grand Prix Catalytic Converter

I think someone once told me that when a catalytic converter goes bad, it smells like rotten eggs. Can anyone confirm that? My 97 GTP started stinking like that really bad the other night...

I'll confirm that it's incorrect.

The engine is being over-fueled, the rotten egg smell is from the extra sulfur due to the over-fuel condition.

I guess that's good news. Can the over-fueled problem come from a bad MAF sensor? Auto X-Ray says I've got one of those and it's heading to the shop this am for it.

A failed MAF sensor could be one cause.
