98 Grand AM ABS sensor

I have a 98 that was rear ended and since then the ABS light has been on....suspect the sensor on the rear. Where is the cheapest place/online to get one? GMPartsdirect.com says that it is a rear hub with sensor and it is 158.00 If correct, is it left or right side or will it fit either side? Any help is appreciated

Have your car checked first. It could be a wiring problem or just about anything else.

GM Parts Direct has about the best price for the rear hubs. But before you put out that kind of money on them, I would check a couple of items first.

I have a 97 GA and I was getting an ABS light and Low Trac light as well. Here is what I did to correct the problem:

I cleaned the electrical contacts on all 4 sensors but most importantly, I found the front sensors were dirty. I removed them and cleaned them along with the tone rings on the front CV shafts and the problem went away. Unlike the rear sensors, the front one's are exposed to the elements and are subject to getting dirty.

If you try what I did, it may just save you a few hundred dollars in unecessary parts.

Mike, I got the ABS fixed. I did get 2 good wheel sensors from a junkyard for $20, but that was not the problem. If anything, now i have 2 replacement wheel bearings. At any rate, I had to change the ABS unit (motor pack) to fix the problem. The car was rear-ended sitting in my driveway 2 years ago..thats why I thought it might have been a rear sensor. When it got hit, it locked up the motor that feeds the rear ABS
