AC CLUTCH

The compressor clutch doesn't need to be engaged in order to recharge the AC. Matter of fact, it's better if it doesn't since it is the refrigerant that carries the lubricating oil and if the compressor is engaged before there is sufficient refrigerant to carry the oil, things you'd rather not have happen -will- happen.
Nope. Just recharge it. If it won't come on after you've recharged it, then you can troubleshoot that problem then.
