Hi, hope someone can help me out with this; I have a '96 Sunfire. The "low coolant" warning light came on, so I topped it off with less than a half gallon on mixture, but the warning light is still on. Does this indicate a problem not associated with the coolant level? The car runs fine and the temp. level is normal.

Locate the sensor in the hard plastic overflow bottle (where you installed the coolant), and then take a reasonably sized screwdriver by the tip and rap the head of the screwdriver against the overflow bottle right where the sensor is located. It was common on these cars for either an air bubble to get in where the sensor was, or maybe they just stick a bit once the coolant level goes down. Anyway, most of the time, this is all that the problem is.

did you fill it up from the radiator cap or the plastic resevore? take the radiator cap off the radiator and stick the garden hose in it with the motor running for 10-15 minutes. just a trickle off water not a blast. fill up the overflow resevore too. the low coolant sensor is in the top of the radiato and probably works fine.
