driver window will not work/please help

I have a 94 Bonneville SE. My window will not go down but does make a clicking noise so I am thinking it may be the switch. What do you think? I'm a mom of 2 who is on a budget and not alot of help with things like this. My back passenger window does not work either but I am not worried about this one as much. Funny thing is the driver's side window stopped once before but then worked the next day! Can I buy just a switch or what do you think I should do?

It's impossible to say for sure without a hands-on diagnosis, but I think it's unlikely to be a switch. Trouble with Bonneville and Grand Prix windows is quite common based on reports here, and your description of the problem sounds typical. The consensus seems to be that the motors are somewhat underpowered and the mechanism tends to bind over time. One thing that's been helpful for a lot of folks is to re-lubricate the guide rails; this should be fairly inexpensive to do (free if you have a friend willing to pull the door panel) and is worth trying first. Next step would be a real diagnosis, with the most likely solution a new window motor.

Do get it fixed, a bad DS window is a safety hazard.
