Problems with Vibe's AC

Has anyone noticed a hissing noise coming from the A/C when operating? It sounds like freon traveling or steam leaking... It is noticed when the car is in constant speed, since the engine itself can mask the noise when accelerating.

Other problem is that even after the Pontiac's Service Bulletin, the A/C itself cannot cool this car. When the outside temperature is around 90+F, the A/C works hard, but even in recirculation mode it cannot cool the car enough...

Pontiac states the hissing noise is "normal" and that the A/C is operating properly...

Any other Vibe owners out there to comment on their experiences?

Basic model, moon&tunes... 2003.

Thanks.

Ed.

Um that hissing is the refrigerant passing through the orifice tube your cooling system and is 100% normal. You might hear it more or less depending on where it is located and how insulated it is from one car to another..

Think about this... The air outside is 85 deg. The air of your car after sitting in the hot sun is 140 degrees. Which is easier to cool, the air outside or the air you are trying to recirculate inside your car?

Again air inside 140, air outside 85. Which cools faster?

None of this has anything to do weather its a Vibe or not. It applies to all cars.
