Looking for a 1987 924S Speedometer

Jul 16, 2004 3 Replies

My speedometer odometer has stopped recording miles driven, however, the speedo works. I'm looking for a used speedo with a working odometer.

Pelican Parts and Parts Heaven do not have any. I can get mine rebuilt for about $150.

Thanks,

Mike Osborn

You don't need it rebuilt, you just need to replace the plastic gear. This is a common problem on 924 and 944 - if you reset the trip odometer while the car is in motion, you strip the plastic gear and the miles stop advancing. Check Pelican's site for odometer gear. They also have a tech article on fixing it, iirc. Emanuel

Yeah. For $150 I will fix a spare one for you and send it :)

I think I got my gear from odometergears.com. Fix is not too bad for someone with a little technical ability.

Thanks for all the responses. I will probably try to fix next week--Drivewerks (pelican parts has great instructions). FYI, the odometer was NOT reset at anytime I have driven the car--that said I've only owned it

6 months. I made that mistake on a Camaro I owned.

Thanks

Mike
