Prius Still on top

I love it how prius owners has to throw stones through glass houses especially when there is better cars available for a better price and has better economy.

Or the fact they are in lala land and we live in the real world that hybrids area great marketing con.

Either way im chuffed that I don't own one of them white elephants :-)

They need to rename the prius or any other hybrid cars to hypocrite or the Irony toasters. I am amazed on how people are thinking they are good for the "enviroment" or for "economy". Bit like religious cults really.

Blame the ritch f*ck celebrities who drive them, I think some hybrid owners think they are on the top of the status quo as celebrities when they drive their hybrids. ;-)

Both are cars so its not that far fetched to compare them, its also relevant as much as that if economy is the main reason for buying a hybrid then there are better choices, if 44 yr old car can achieve that sort of economy then the economy of a Prius is nothing to get excited about.

By the sound of it you are in the USA, Knob is in Australia where the price difference is as he says. If a Prius is more competitively priced compared to other similar sized cars in the US than here then it might make more economic sense there than it does here where it makes no economic sense at all.

I don't blame the people who buy hybrids some of whom genuinely believe they are doing the right thing but I do blame Govt's and car makers for ignoring the facts. IMO its is a good thing that they are exploring alternative technology but so far they haven't come up with anything that is good enough to replace existing car power plants. Running cars on LPG or trucks on LNG which is becoming more popular is still far better than any hybrid that's currently on the market, a hybrid whose petrol engine was LPG injected and whose batteries could be charged from the mains overnight would be a good start.

What other reasons are there to buy a hybrid? If your answer is lower emissions then the 2 things are very much related, the less fuel you burn the lower the emissions which is even true in low tech older cars.

I agree it's a childish argument.

Node has "issues" that don't always represent all Australians, however you are not worth knowing unless you live in AU or NZ seems to be his general opinion.

However yeah, average USA folk don't tend to kind of know as much about the rest of the world other than their own back yard, and I doubt many folk widewide know much about Australia or NZ. This is a good thing(tm) in a lot of ways - we don't want to be invaded :-)
