'00 95 SE Alarm problem

Any tips on an alarm that likes to go off (and off, and off, and off, and off) for no apparent reason on my 95? Despite making me unpopular with the neighbors it's a real drag when it happens in a parking lot. The computer occasionally suggest that I should have the alarm serviced (duh) and reports it's a faulty glass break sensor. Quote on replacing the sensor was pretty offensive! Although, at this point...

Is this a common problem? Is it likely that it really is the sensor or is it more likely to be a false hit on the diagnostics and something else is really going on?

Does anyone have any references for a good Saab mechanic in Sonoma County?

Does the alarm turn off when you disarm it? Just wondering if yours is the same problem I've just started having - Alarm will go off for no reason but won't disarm. It cycles around six times then stops. The only way to stop it is to start the engine and run it for 30 secs or so.....

That sounds about right, can't stop it, won't disarm. A couple of times it's engaged the immobilizer and so won't start either. I ended up leaving in unlocked with the key in the ignition but off -- the manual said the alarm won't arm until the key is removed. I'm reluctant to drop the money on the glass sensor only to find out that it's the alarm computer. The only other symptom that I can think of is that it's told my wife "key not accepted" a couple of times. I guess there is an electronic component to the key?
