2002 9-3 SE ACC temp seems miscalibrated

Has anyone else found that even with the ACC set to 82 degrees that the car still seems to think it should blow cold air at you?

I feel like my car mistakenly thinks that the cabin temp is about 100 degrees when in fact it's probably more like 60. It seems to me that when I have the ACC set to 82, that the cabin temperature should be near balmy.

This usually happens when the outside temperature is around 50.

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have any ideas? Can the ACC computer tricked into thinking that the cabin temp is lower than it actually is through a configuration value?

Thanks,

-Ben

On my 2001 one, the manual says that the setting on the ACC isn't an absolute air temperature, but a sort of indication of how warm you want to feel. God only knows exactly what the algorithm is it uses to adjust the various controls, but one thing that seems to have quite a strong influence is the sunlight sensor on the top of the dash. If it sees strong sunlight beaming into the car, it assumes the people inside are being directly heated by the sun, so it turns down the air temp and maybe turns on the face vents etc.

You could try getting it to do a self calibration - press the "auto" and "off" buttons both at the same time. It can be adjusted by a Saab dealer if you still don't like the way it's working.

Cheers,

Colin.
