CD Changer issue

Hi everyone,

I got this through my web page:

Hi Jeremy, >I don't have a link to add, but I am desperate for some help. I have a >2005 Saab 9-3, and my 6 disk CD changer keeps giving me an "CD error" >message after a while of play. This is quite annoying. I've taken it in >to Saab twice already and they can't find the problem. My question is >this, is it >very difficult to install and after market CD changer? I hear that the >Saab wiring and harness is difficult, and many don't want to touch it, but >as I said, >I am DESPERATE! > >Any insight you have would be greatly appreciated. > >Thanks in advance. >Brigitte

This is my response to her:

Hello Brigitte, > >A couple of quick questions: >1. I believe the changer is in the trunk, right? Is there a leak at all, >any water getting in there to cause a short? >2. How long has this been going on? Did it start recently? If it only >started in late spring or early summer, it might have a heat issue. (where >are you >located?) > >I believe that this unit is a Pioneer changer; I think they are >interchangeable so it may be a quick swap out. I will ask some other Saab >heads. > >I am going to post your question at the Saab newsgroup to get some more >answers for you.

Any other suggestions we can give the Lady?

Jeremy

If she is in the USA, Crutchfield.com sells CD players that match her car at a reasonable price.

If she is still under warranty (which a 2005 should be) she should demand that the dealer replace the CD player. Dealers know about the all too common problems with these Saab changers.
