Connecticut classic Saab lovers...I need your help.

Does anyone in Connecticut (preferably Hartford) have a 1991 Saab 900 turbo with the factory cassette and EQ/CD player? If so, may I try out my CD player in your car? Here's the story:

I recently bought a used, original equipment Clarion CD player for my

900T. Unfortunately it doesn't work correctly. Whenever I put a CD in, the player tries to read it, then spits it out. I took all of the stereo components out of the console and hooked them up externally. I took the cover off the player and noticed that the disc wasn't spinning. When I nudged it a bit, it started playing. However, it sounded distorted. My gut feeling is that the player is not getting enough voltage. Either that or it's just toast. All of this speculation could be swept away in an instant if I were able to try the player out in another car. Since the whole stereo system is modular, it would be very easy to slide out the EQ and slide in the player.

Thanks for your help.

Probably toast. I had one that failed like this. Clarion can refurb them still, I think. I'd try another used one. If you are interested, there is a guy 'out east' that does a business in Saab radios. He advertises on Saabnet. I have no experience with him other than email correspondence. I'm in Ohio.

It may still be toast - but are you sure it doesn't require a 'carrier' for the CD? My 89 has the full Clarion stack and I had to ask the previous owner for the 5 'cassettes' that came with it. They hold one CD per, you can only put one at time in and they don't always play all CD's as the read speed is limited. I don't have a 'EQ' in mine, so it may be entirely different - but worth asking about if you are talking to a Clarion specialist.

This is the model in between the cartridge type and the later version with a built-in EQ. I think they only made it for a year or so.
